Tips for a great experience:

1) Check the weather!  You want mild winds as it cannot be reefed.  15-20MPH winds would be very challenging on this boat. Winds are lower in the morning. Do not use during thunderstorms. Last minute rentals are best because you'll have good weather info.

2) Expect to get wet.  You may tip it over.  This is natural and normal. Don't bring items that can't get wet or that may be lost if you tip the boat over.

3) It requires some experience.  At the very minimum you should understand the points of sail and how to right a small boat to ensure a good time. (To right it, pull on, then stand on the dagger board until it rolls right side up)

4) It's somewhat physically demanding.  Moving the boat to/from the water, sailing, righting it if you tip it over.  It's a very active day.

5) Returning the boat.  Please return the boat exactly as you found it, up on the grass, with sails tied down, so the next person can have a nice day too.

6) Stay inside Great Salt Pond, as it's not an open ocean boat.
